June 8th, 2011  Total Security Solutions recently invested in a new waterjet cutting system. The system enables Total Security Solutions to deliver even more custom bulletproof glass options to its banking, retail, municipal and other clients.
“The market demand for custom bulletproof glass continues to grow as do the options for providing new services to the market,” said Jim Richards, president. “The investment in this state of the art water jet gives Total Security Solutions the ability to match our products to an architect’s vision, providing us, and our partners, significant competitive advantage.” Total Security Solutions’ invested in an Intec® 510, a 5’ x 10’, 2-axis X-Y Abrasive Waterjet Cutting System. The fully integrated abrasive waterjet machine can cut almost any material up to 6” thick. The waterjet’s water-only capabilities mean that the machine can cut soft materials as well as glass and acrylic. ‘The ability to add custom pieces, like trays, speakers or frames is important,” Richards explained. “The waterjet adds the flexibility Total Security Solutions needs to deliver a variety of manufacturing options to our clients.” In addition to delivering new manufacturing capabilities, the waterjet helps Total Security Solutions improve productivity – a key benefit for the growing business.
April 30th, 2010 Bullet proof transaction windows tend to be the most commonly asked for and purchased item when it comes to bullet resistant products. Upon purchase the most frequently asked question is, “How do I install it?” While we would love to be able to install every transaction window ourselves, it’s just not economical for either party. Instead Total Security Solutions has came up with a simple three step process for customers to “do it yourself”:  Transaction Window Install Instructions - Cut and finished an opening in the wall to accept the unit size. The opening should be ¼” wider and taller than the size of the ordered unit.
- Place the pre framed window in the opening, shim as necessary, assuring that the item is level and in the correct position desired. Attach the sides to the existing wall with the provided screws (use anchors if the wall is masonry).
- Apply trim, molding that can be obtained locally, around the window and your project is finished.
Bullet proof transaction windows come in UL protection levels 1-3 and several different types (such as the baffle and arched voice port). March 18th, 2010  Rotary Package Processor from Total Security Solutions Like the PE Package Passer (See last week’s blog) the Rotary Package Processor is a great option for convenience stores. However, unlike the PE, the Rotary Package Processor is the perfect option for fast food operations, restaurants and gas stations. This type of Package Processor allows many different (and larger) sized items to be passed back and forth between customers and employees. Like the PE, the Rotary Package Processor is only accessible from one side at a time, meaning that there is not breech possibility The Rotary Package Processor has many features that are available as well, things such as additional locking mechanisms, integral cash tray protective barriers and three different levels of protection. February 11th, 2010  Recently, Total Security Solutions renamed its “Resources and Planning Tools” section to “Architect Resources” and added downloadable CAD drawings, as well as PDFs, of each of its bulletproof products. Each CAD drawing provides typical details, including plans, elevations, and sections for products, such as our Arch Window System, Ballistic Counters, and Interior Transaction Window. You can also easily access data sheets, which provide product-related details such as features, available sizes, and finish options, for many of our bullet-resistant products.

February 4th, 2010 After the planning and production processes are complete, we are ready to install your bullet-resistant barrier. Our accuracy in the initial phases makes for an efficient, mess-free installation.  Your bulletproof products will be carefully packaged and shipped to your facility by truck. Total Security Solutions can begin working shortly after your business closes for the evening or on Saturday so as to minimize the inconvenience to you and your customers. For many installations, we can be in and out within a single night. And we’ll have your facility cleaned up and ready for normal business hours.

December 10th, 2009 Earlier this year, Total Security Solutions underwent a site redesign to enhance our site’s offerings and further demonstrate our commitment to highly responsive customer service. Our Resources and Planning Tools section enables architects, contractors and other industries to easily view and download product images, detailed spec information as well as CAD drawings. Total Security Solutions also has a partnership with ARCAT to provide easy access to even more CAD drawings, LEED data and a convenient to use spec wizard tool. June 18th, 2009  Total Security Solutions recently completed a bullet proof barrier installation in a national financial institution. The secure sound bullet resistant barrier system incorporated bulletproof transparencies, bullet resistant fiberglass, and currency trays. Secure sound bullet proof barriers, as well as Arch Window and Baffle Window systems, are typically utilized by banks, credit unions or check cashing facilities because they provide a friendly access portal for staff/customer interaction, an architectural appeal, and security from UL Level I to Level III.
In addition, we provided bulletproof wood doors, which are made of plastic laminate or wood veneer over fiberglass bullet-resistant sheathing, with or without vision windows.
May 21st, 2009 The crew of Modern Marvels, a History channel documentary show, spent a day at Total Security Solutions’ facility in Fowlerville, Michigan filming and conducting interviews for an upcoming special on bank security. The episode will address all aspects of bank security, but Total Security Solutions will be the only company featured in the field of bulletproof glass. Jim Richards, the Vice President of Total Security Solutions, spent Monday, May 18th showing the Modern Marvels crew around their facility and walking them through the bullet proof glass barrier manufacturing process. Jim discussed the most common bullet resistant barriers, including arch window and baffle window systems. Total Security Solutions also demonstrated how a bullet resistant barrier system goes from a single sheet of bullet resistant transparency – either acrylic, polycarbonate, glass-clad polycarbonate or bullet proof glass – to a complete bullet resistant barrier. Using a computer-driven manufacturing process, Total Security Solutions is able to take a precise architectural CAD drawing and output all the required system components to their exact specifications. Modern Marvels focuses on technology, the history behind it, and how it is used in today’s society. The bank security episode is scheduled to air in October/November 2009.
