SchoolDefender® Glass

Upgrade existing windows and doors with forced-entry protection against active shooters, intruders, and other threats.

SchoolDefender® glass offers higher forced-entry resistance than competitor solutions or security window film, making it an essential part of a systems approach to security.

Upgrade Existing Windows & Doors With Forced Entry Protection

Our SchoolDefender glass is a laminated glass-clad polycarbonate (GCP) pane engineered to add forced-entry resistance to standard windows without replacing existing frames. It’s purpose-built for windows in locations where bullet resistance isn’t required but delay and deterrence are critical.

Unlike window film designed primarily to prevent flying shards of glass, SchoolDefender glass has been independently tested to ASTM F1233 for multi-staged forced-entry resistance, including sledgehammers, steel pipes, ripping bars, and even propane torches .

Strengthen Main Entrances With Dual Protection

While our SchoolDefender glass is ideal for areas that don’t need ballistic protection, we recommend materials tested to UL 752 standards for main entrances. Because it's becoming increasingly common for armed attackers to break through windows and doors, we can also design a full system tested to standards for both bullet resistance and forced entry resistance, including ASTM F3561 and ASTM F1233. This keeps glazing and framing intact after rifle fire and impact, buying critical time for first responders to arrive.

Frequently Asked Questions About SchoolDefender Glass

How does SchoolDefender compare to “security window film”?

While window film is primarily designed to hold glass together after it's been broken, preventing flying shards, SchoolDefender has been independently tested to ASTM F1233 for security glazing. This means it has been proven to withstand various types of attacks, including repeated strikes with hammers, pipes and a propane torch.

Can we use this to retrofit existing doors and windows?

Yes. SchoolDefender is purpose-built to add forced-entry resistance to standard doors and windows without replacing most existing frames.

Does SchoolDefender stop bullets?

It's important to note SchoolDefender is not designed to stop bullets, but to prevent forced entry in areas where bullet resistance isn’t required. For locations that do require ballistic protection, such as main entrances and classroom windows, we offer window systems tested to ASTM F1233 and UL 752 for both forced-entry and bullet resistance.

How should we clean SchoolDefender Glass?

Use soft, lint-free or microfiber cloths with lukewarm water and a mild soap or detergent. First, dust the surface flush with clean water to remove grit. Then gently wash and blot dry—don’t scrub. To disinfect, use diluted hydrogen peroxide or isopropyl alcohol. Avoid paper towels, abrasive brushes, and using commercial cleaning products like Windex or Clorox that contain ammonia, bleach or solvents such as acetone that can haze or craze protective glazing. How does TSS handle installation?
