NLC City Summit 2022 Recap

This year was our first time exhibiting at the National League of Cities (NLC) City Summit. Taking place November 17-19, City Summit hosted over 4,000 city leaders from across the country. Mayors, city managers, council members, commissioners, and local leaders had a chance to attend over 40 educational workshops and explore booths from 150 exhibitors.

City Summit is known for being an event where city leaders can discuss problems facing local governments, share successful programs and strategies, and look for innovative, new solutions to meet the needs of the residents they serve. Notable topics at this year’s event included how small and mid-size cities can put together compelling grant applications for the funding opportunities available through last year’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, how the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) is helping local governments recover from the pandemic, labor shortages in local governments, and the rise in attacks on local officials.

In the exhibition hall, our two ballistic security experts shared industry knowledge with attendees and talked through their most challenging security concerns. Our booth featured several ballistic glazing samples, including shot Laminated Polycarbonate (LP 1250). This was a helpful visual since the polycarbonate clearly demonstrates how ballistic material “catches” the bullet, leaving the fragments suspended within the glazing. We also had a number of handheld samples of glazing and ballistic fiberglass as visual aids.

Visitors left the TSS booth with a variety of free resources, a Capabilities Flyer, a Municipal Building Security Checklist, and information on TSS’s new AIA-approved CE course “8 Levels of Bullet Resistant Material Explained.” In the background, a TV ran footage from a live fire product demonstration, similar to this webinar for corporate settings.

We had a wonderful time at NLC City Summit and are thankful for the opportunity to connect with so many local city leaders. If you want to see where else we’ve been this year, visit our events page for a full list of our travels. We’re looking forward to seeing you at even more shows in 2023!
